How to Wear a Basic White T-Shirt Without Looking Basic

SO BASIC XOXO

I know I've been reiterating the word 'Basic' incessantly when I was trying to make a whole load of denim happen. But basically (no pun intended), the meaning behind this post is to impart to you guys on how to wear the most uncomplicated garment of all time. Like of all time. Yes, it's none other than a white t-shirt.

To be frank, I don't think I should be imparting any 'Fashun Guru' or 'Fashun Tricks & Lessons 101' with you guys with regards to a white t-shirt because, it's just a frickin' white t-shirt!!!! How could you go wrong with such a necessity staple in your closet? Sorry, correction, it should be: You can never go wrong with a necessity staple in your closet! It acts as a blank canvas to the representation you're going to project and portray with the subsequent garments you pin onto yourself. As Man Repeller asserted over here, 'Unfortunately and independent of the jeans, the only other bread garment — that which can’t be ruined no matter how it’s interpreted, is a plain white t-shirt.' So no matter how 'Omg I'm having a bad hair day maybe I shouldn't dress to impress, I should just wear a white tee and some slacks' or seeing that frenemy of yours pairing that white t-shirt with a 'cutesy' flare blush-pink skirt (On Wednesdays, we wear pink but today is Tuesday, so we wear half pink) with revolting six-inch stripper heels, you'll never see that white t-shirt in disgust. You'll only look at the stripper heel in agony.

Confused? Okay, I'll make it more succinct.

With references made to the above pictures:

Lesson 101 to Summer-and-you-don't-feel-like-dressing-up Chic (Leandra Medine): white t-shirt, denim cut-offs and strappy-but-not-really-strappy nude pumps.

Lesson 102 to Grunge Gone Glam Chic (Vanessa Hong): white t-shirt, leather jacket, bell-bottoms and super high booties (with more buckles, and less ratchet, if possible)

Lesson 103 to French Chic (Emmanuelle Alt): same white tee, black skinny jeans (this time, there should be any shreds showing), black/grey/white blazer and a pair of court heels.

Lesson 104 to Man-Repelling Chic (Leandra Medine, again): white cropped t-shirt, nude straight cut trousers, camel pumps and a red bag.

Lesson 105 to 107 to Sean Chic (Yours Truly, xoxo): Me is my basic (pun intended this time round) cos white t-shirt, paired with any kind of trousers you can actually find (H&M, H&M and Topman) and a pair of brouges/sneakers.

Get it? Can you guys see a clearer picture? Do you guys have a white t-shirt in your closet? If not, get it now!!!
